Today, SMPS represents a dynamic network of 6,000+ marketing and business development professionals from architectural, engineering, planning, interior design, construction, and specialty consulting firms located throughout the United States and Canada. SMPS’ mission is to advocate for, educate, and connect leaders in the building industry. SMPS’ vision is for premier professional service firms to recognize SMPS as their most trusted resource for success.
For this year’s “Panel of Experts” event, SMPS St. Louis has assembled a group who is knowledgeable about development and long-range planning in the metropolitan area. Listen as they share their city’s efforts to attract new business, generate economic growth, upgrade infrastructure and brand their community for the future. Moderated by Tom Finan of Construction Forum STL, this program features development directors and planners who are enthusiastic about their community’s current and continued growth.
This free event is a valuable networking opportunity for MBE/WBE/DBE firms and subcontractors with prime firms that contract their services. Some of the region’s largest architecture/engineering/construction firms will exhibit and provide information on upcoming projects and what they look for when adding consultants to their team.

Helping write potential questions for the CPSM exam provided me with a greater, more in-depth knowledge of all of the aspects of marketing and business development. It strengthened my knowledge and skills as a professional services marketer for the A/E/C industry and I got to meet a CPSM in another state with who I can now collaborate.
Joyce Ruiz, CPSM, United Construction
Once certified, I’ve enjoyed the access to the national CPSM list serve of peers. Having other knowledgeable CPSM’s as resources for everything from research to RFP’s, from staffing to strategy, puts additional valuable arrows in my (and my firm’s) marketing quiver.
SMPS is the only reason I have the position and the A/E/C career success that I have today. Without the networking opportunities, the chance to lead the local chapter through volunteering, and the practical marketing and business development tips I’ve learned from SMPS, I’d still be where I started seven years ago. Thank you SMPS for giving my career the boost it needed!
Barry Sutherland, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.
I’ve made key connections and gained invaluable knowledge through my involvement with SMPS. Attending programs, utilizing resources and participating on committees has directly contributed to successes in my career. SMPS is beneficial to professionals at every point in their careers. It’s not ‘just networking’, it’s not ‘just education’. SMPS is the whole package.
Kristyn Newbern, Access Engineering
As the only marketing professional at an A/E firm, it is important for me to connect with outside marketers to continue to learn and grow in this field. SMPS has always been a great marketing resource for me. As a member, I have access to books, webinars, and the MySMPS knowledge database, which connects marketing professionals across the nation. But what has really driven my involvement and grown my network has been serving as a committee member and member of the board. I have connected with so many great people who have helped me to develop my skills as a marketer in the A/E/C industry.
