Interested in doing business with the federal government? Join the SAME Scott Field and St. Louis Posts and the SMPS St. Louis Chapter for the 7th Annual Industry Day. Representatives from a variety of federal agencies have been invited to present on their agency’s missions and upcoming contracting opportunities.

Convincing a Prime to Put You on Their Team  

You know you have to team with another company to take part in a larger acquisition. You know that a dozen teams will go after the bid. There are three companies that you KNOW have a competitive advantage. One of these three are likely to win. You select the one you believe is most competitive and you have a meeting to discuss joining their team. By the time the meeting takes place, the prime has most likely already made a decision. You’re on the team or you’re not. But even if you’re on the team, you may get little or no work. These are the situations many companies face in both the government and commercial markets. We’re going to discuss several strategies you can employ to make sure that your initial discussion clearly shows that you will make the prime more competitive. It’s not about what you sell or how strong you are at what you do. It’s about helping the prime win. Create that perception and you’re on the team. This seminar is about perception, business strategy, and how you cross-walk the value you provide to the prime’s requirements. This seminar provides award-winning techniques and strategies that have directly helped small businesses win more than $2 Billion in government contracts. As a result of these strategies, the presenter, Mr. Joshua Frank, was awarded SBA’s Veteran Business of the Year; Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Small Business Advocate of the Year; and Silicon Reviews Top 50 Trustworthy Companies of the Year.

Speaker: Joshua Frank

Author, trainer, and business coach with 28 years in the federal space, Mr. Frank speaks nationally on small business strategy and business acceleration. He specializes in the development and implementation of techniques and strategies required to differentiate, position for, and win government contracts. His training seminars, highly educational and thought-provoking, are consistently rated as one of the strongest seminars at national conferences and events.

Managing Partner at RSM Federal, Mr. Frank is author of “The Government Sales Manual” and “An Insider’s Guide To Winning Government Contracts: Real-World Strategies, Lessons, and Recommendations.” With more than a thousand techniques and strategies, RSM’s conference seminars and programs have facilitated more than $2 Billion in small business government contracts. Due to the success of companies that use these strategies, Mr. Frank was awarded the SBA Veteran Business of the Year; Industry Small Business Advocate of the Year by the Society of American Military Engineers; and Silicon Review’s 50 Top Trustworthy Companies of the Year.

Mr. Frank serves as Chairman of the Board for the St. Louis Veterans Business Resource Center (VBRC) and previously served on the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council as a member on the Economic Development Policy Committee. Mr. Frank supports the SBA’s Emerging Leaders Program and judges applications for Arch Grants providing startup funding for entrepreneurs.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, Mr. Frank lives in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife, daughter, and son. He is a former intelligence officer and a graduate of the University of Missouri with an undergraduate degree in English and a graduate of Webster University with a Masters in Management Information Systems (MIS) in addition to a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Webster University Walker School of Business.

Event Registration

Convincing a Prime to Put You on Their Team: $50
Registration cost includes the Wednesday presentation and Wednesday networking event. Registration for the session does not include access to the Industry Day presentations on Thursday, April 18 which requires separate registration and payment.

Industry: $80.00 | Government Employees: Free
Registration costs include breakfast, lunch, access to all Thursday sessions, and access to a Wednesday, April 17 networking event. Industry Day registration does not include the Wednesday presentation, “Convincing a Prime to Put You on Their Team,” which requires separate registration and payment. Please be sure to register if you are a free attendee to ensure that you receive a meal.
